description

Blockage of small and medium arteries due to inflammation of blood vessels. The symptoms come on gradually over a period of time. The disease is most common in men between ages 20 and 40 who are heavy cigarette smokers. However, it is now being diagnosed more in women and people of both genders over age 50.

causes

Unknown. The disease is probably triggered by smoking combined with an immune reaction in the body. Most patients are heavy smokers, but some are moderate smokers, and some use smokeless tobacco.

Smoking or using smokeless tobacco.

There are no specific preventive measures, except never to smoke.

expected outcomes

This condition is currently considered incurable. Stopping smoking is the only effective treatment to stop the progress of the disease.
